GINA PATRICHI (Romanian actress 1936 – 1994)

You know, the stars can sometimes be those who have lost the battle as individuals, but have been victorious as artists. Who knows… it’s like a payback perhaps. And if we agree on this, it means that glory ends right then, when the last spotlight is switched off. Immediately after, the defeated’s life begins… after you have won as an artist on stage.

I am pleased… because I have won as an artist, even if that might not sound at all modest… but I am not modest in that respect. And all that glory I leave behind me… on the stage, to my characters. It’s theirs!
